Awards season — Pennsylvania APME

The Post-Gazette captured more awards than any large-circulation newspaper in Pennsylvania in the venerable statewide Pennsylvania Associated Press Managing Editors’ competition. The PG won 16 awards — eight first places and eight seconds — more than twice as many as the nearest competitor.

The PG won first place in the following categories:

Besides the Post-Gazette, other newspapers competing in the large-circulation category were: the Philadelphia Daily News, which won seven awards; The (Harrisburg) Patriot-News, which won six awards; The Philadelphia Inquirer, four awards; Pittsburgh Tribune-Review (3); Lancaster Newspapers (1); and The (Allentown) Morning Call (1).
