The heartbeat behind any good journalism is its sources. Let’s face it: We, as reporters, are nothing without the people who share their stories with us.
It’s no secret that since mid-October, we’ve been on strike. But our journalism? It’s better than ever. We’ve been writing for our own publication, a union publication: the Pittsburgh Union Progress – and our goal is to bring you closer to your community. That hasn’t stopped.
To help us, the undersigned organizations, politicians, community leaders, and members of the public – a real “who’s who” of Pittsburgh solidarity – are pledging to:
- Refuse to speak to the Post-Gazette until our strike demands are met
- Speak with the striking worker-run Pittsburgh Union Progress instead
- Ask their community to join them in canceling their Post-Gazette subscriptions until our demands are met
- Urge folks to subscribe to the Union Progress
It’s easy to talk about supporting workers. But these folks are backing up that rhetoric with action. We appreciate their solidarity in fighting for news our community deserves, workplace respect, and you.
