In case you missed the news Friday …
Congratulations are in order for guild member Mila Sanina, who has been promoted into a managerial role. She will be Post-Gazette AME for social media and engagement strategy. The note from executive editor David Shribman:
I am delighted to announce the appointment of Mila (no last name necessary, like Ann-Margaret and Liberace…and Beyoncé ) as assistant managing editor of the Post-Gazette for social media and engagement startegy.
In this new position, she will be responsible for overseeing the newsroom’s social-media strategy, practices and commenting standards. Mila will work closely with reporters and editors in all newsroom departments to develop new ways to use social media tools and social content in both their daily coverage and in special projects. I am also asking her to work in close coordination with other departments across the company (Marketing, Audience, Sales, and IT) to support the integration of social-media tools across the PG and to define a vision for social media when the paywall for our digital content goes into effect. The role also has a community outreach dimension and the promise of finding new revenue opportunities for PG content.
Most important, this appointment assures that Post-Gazette’s presence on social web is a reflection of its editorial standards, best practices and values, be it in commenting on post-gazette.com or tweets by our reporters and editors. I am sure you will join me in congratulating Mila in this appointment.
